The Power of a Smile
The Power of a Smile
Once upon a time we lived to learn and discover - to uncover secrets and better ways forward. We protected and respected life and the land beneath our feet and we understood the healing power of nature and the enormous importance of smiles and warm hands.
We knew that rainforests, oceans, soils and bright green frogs held cures for many ills. We knew that every wingbeat on a migration path of birds, taught us something important about our place upon this earth.
We knew that nature’s intelligence grew far faster than our own and yet we understood the significance of the action of our hands. We are no mere bystanders witnessing life passing us by, every action, good or ill see’s us leave our mark.
Yet today I struggle to recognise the masked monsters that we face.
What have we become in the name of winning, war…….. and safety?
How can we be willing to lose so much in the pursuit of a never ending cycle of destruction?
Who knew that the medicines of the rainforest made their way to us upon the wind?
Who knew that the wonders of far lands made their way to us upon the feathers of the world’s greatest travellers?
Who knew that the medicine all life ever needed was connection and evolution into ever greater harmony and balance?
Who knew that life worked tirelessly to weave together a miraculous tapestry that becomes more beautiful and healthful each day?
Who knew that the way to alleviate our ills was simply to maintain balance?
Instead we are unravelling the evolutionary webs of life. We destroy, fight and kill and contribute only towards greater disease, whilst we ignorantly believe that toxic chemicals hold the key to a healthier, safer life. What madness are we under?
We destroy the life that would feed us, we cover the smiles that would heal us, we poison the bodies that would carry us and we live in fear of the medicine carried on feathers from distant lands.
Our world is alive - full to bursting with miraculous unfathomable beauty - yet mankind is dying..... through fear of death.
We need to look into the mirror and remove the masks from our real face - we need to heal ourselves with smiles and we must remember our true place.
We must protect our children and we have to end this madness now - we must open our eyes to the true miracle of life. I hope we can remember - perhaps a smile can show us how.
