Nicola initially got in touch to discuss planting a forest garden and growing other produce to supply the Biome Box, her dedication and willingness to have a go, led her to the 28 acre forest garden, Plants for a Future site, where she is now helping to finish building an education centre and harvesting produce for the Biome Box on what she describes as a 'working holiday'. We are so pleased to be working with Nicola and hope that we can do great things together to support small scale regenerative growing based on perennial and woodland systems.
Nicola has a varied background in engineering and building which brought her to land based work through learning traditional timber framing. She fell in love with living in a forest and supporting nature to thrive.
Nicola has been inspired by the work of the pioneers of forest gardening to produce food in a very ecological and low energy way. She is working with existing forest garden and farm sites to make use of their vast knowledge and experience with these unusual food plants.
